National Change of Address, or NCOA for short, is a database of individuals, families and businesses that have recently changed their physical mailing location. NCOA information is owned, maintained and licensed for use by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
When making a move, consumers and businesses use a special form change of address that is available through the USPS. The USPS licenses this new change of address data to a select group of companies who use special software with strict matching guidelines developed and approved by the USPS to identify and update records on existing mailing lists with correct and verified address information.
The USPS estimates that over 40 million Americans change their address annually. Updating your mailing list with current data on your customers and prospects will improve the deliverability of your mail (and ultimately increase your sales) by providing you with current, standardized addresses for individuals, families and businesses who have recently moved to a new location.
Please note, NCOA processing is used to update existing records within a mailing list. The USPS does not offer a change of address “list” for companies to use to reach those who have recently moved. If you are looking to specifically reach this highly sought after group of consumers or businesses, please see our new movers data card.
